Overview
The Shuiping Teapot combines the enduring balance of the Shuiping form with original ore Da Hong Pao clay and the experienced craftsmanship of Zhang Jili. Its restrained silhouette rewards close attention, revealing subtle technical details in the spout, handle and lid.

Designed for serious tea preparation, it is equally suited to collectors looking for a handmade piece with a material character that continues to evolve.
Details

Traditional Shuiping Form
The Shuiping, meaning “water level”, is recognised for its perfectly balanced rounded body and disciplined proportions. Its quiet silhouette gives the piece a refined presence without unnecessary decoration.

Original Ore Da Hong Pao Clay
The teapot is crafted from original ore Da Hong Pao clay, valued for its distinctive reddish tone, earthy texture and mineral character. The natural surface remains understated when new and develops greater depth with use

Exposed Joint Spout
The slender straight spout uses the traditional ming jie exposed joint technique. Rather than concealing the connection between the spout and body, the construction remains subtly visible, demonstrating the precision required during assembly.

Ball Hole Filter
The spout incorporates a qiu kong ball hole filter designed to help maintain a smooth flow while retaining tea leaves inside the pot.

Developing Patina
With regular use, the natural Da Hong Pao clay gradually develops a warmer surface and deeper sheen. This transformation, traditionally known as yanghu, is an important part of the experience of owning unglazed zisha teaware.

210 ml Tea Capacity
With a capacity of approximately 210 ml, the teapot is suited to intimate brewing sessions where temperature, concentration and pouring control remain central to the ritual.
