Zi Ni Purple Clay
The teapot is made from Zi Ni purple clay, characterised by its earthy texture and deep reddish brown tone. The natural matte surface gives the piece a tactile, understated appearance.
Developing Patina
The natural clay changes with continued use. Over time, repeated brewing can gradually deepen the colour and create a softer surface sheen, a process traditionally known among collectors as yanghu.
Balanced Pouring Design
The curved spout follows the rounded body while the loop handle provides a natural counterbalance. The subtle peak of the handle echoes the triangular bridge knob on the lid, creating a small but deliberate visual relationship.
