Fits right in with mine

Third piece I've added to the collection now, each one slightly different in glaze which is exactly why I keep coming back

Overview
The Liu Shui Teapot brings a more contemporary expression to traditional zisha craftsmanship. Its elevated overhead handle and flowing body create a continuous sculptural line that immediately distinguishes it from conventional teapot forms.

With its 370 ml capacity, natural Zi Ni clay and entirely handmade construction, it is equally suited to everyday brewing, sharing tea and adding a distinctive object to a refined tea setting.
Details

Flowing Overhead Handle
The defining feature is the tall overhead handle, which rises elegantly above the body before sweeping back down toward the spout. The continuous curve creates a distinctive profile that feels light, balanced and architectural.

Fluid Sculptural Form
The lower body follows the same flowing design language. Smooth transitions and restrained curves give the teapot a sense of movement, inspired by the natural path of flowing water.

Zi Ni Purple Clay
The body is crafted from Zi Ni, a traditional purple clay valued for its earthy texture and understated appearance. Left unglazed, the natural clay provides a tactile surface that gradually becomes warmer and smoother with continued use.

Handcrafted Construction
Each Liu Shui Teapot is entirely handmade by skilled zisha artisans. The shaping, forming and finishing are completed individually, resulting in subtle variations that are part of the character of the piece.

Generous 370 ml Capacity
The 370 ml capacity makes the Liu Shui suitable for sharing tea while maintaining a relatively refined footprint on the tea table.

Natural Patina
Regular use allows the clay to develop its own surface character. Over time, the finish becomes deeper and more polished through the traditional process known as yanghu, or raising the pot.

Everything you may want to knowProduct questions

A practical guide to materials, making, care, delivery and returns.

Choose a topic

What materials are used?

Materials vary by product and are listed on each product page.

Are the glazes food-safe?

Products intended for tea or food contact are selected for normal domestic use. Where a product is designed for drinking, brewing or serving tea, it is intended to be used for that purpose.

What materials are used?

Our pieces are handcrafted in stoneware and porcelain, sourced from regions in China renowned for centuries of ceramic tradition.

Jingdezhen, known as China's porcelain capital for over a thousand years, produces our fine porcelain pieces, prized for their smooth white body and ability to take detailed glazes. Yixing, famous for its zisha (purple clay) stoneware, produces our unglazed and reactive-glaze stoneware pieces, valued for their density and the way the clay develops character with use.

Each piece is fired and finished by hand, which is why glaze patterns, especially on reactive-glaze stoneware, vary slightly from piece to piece. Material and exact origin are noted on each individual product page.

Are your products lead-free?

For products intended for tea or food contact, we aim to source items suitable for normal domestic use. If a product has specific safety, material or testing information, we will include it on the product page. If you need confirmation for a specific item, contact us before ordering.

Can I use the product every day?

Yes, unless stated otherwise on the product page. Our tea ware is selected to balance design with practical everyday use. To preserve the finish, we recommend gentle handling and following the care instructions for each product.

Why do colours, glaze or texture vary slightly?

Many tea ware pieces are shaped, glazed, fired or finished in small batches. Heat, glaze, clay body and hand finishing can create subtle differences in colour, texture and surface. These variations are part of the character of crafted tea ware.

What materials are used?

Materials vary by product and are listed on each product page.

How are the pieces made?

The making process depends on the product. Pieces may be shaped, cast, glazed, fired, polished or finished by skilled workshops. This process gives each item its texture, weight, tone and character.

Why are there small variations between pieces?

Small variations are rare, but they can occasionally happen during shaping, glazing, firing or finishing. Slight differences in colour, surface, texture or form may occur from one piece to another and are part of the character of crafted tea ware.

Is it suitable as a gift?

Yes. Chadao pieces are selected to feel considered, calm and gift-ready, making them suitable for tea lovers, design-conscious homes and thoughtful everyday rituals.
