Overview
The Ling Bao Teapot is a distinctive piece for collectors drawn to unusual clay textures and sculptural craftsmanship. Its mottled golden ochre body contrasts naturally with the darker carved details, while the dragon lizard sculpture gives the lid an unmistakable focal point.

With its combination of calligraphy, mountain imagery and richly textured clay, Ling Bao works equally well as a functional teapot and as a considered object on the tea table.
Details

Dragon Bone Gold Sand Clay
The teapot is made from original ore Dragon Bone Gold Sand clay, known for its mottled golden ochre colour and fine mineral speckling. The sandy texture gives the surface a tactile character that becomes increasingly refined with use.

Sculpted Dragon Lizard
A three dimensional dragon lizard stretches across the lid, forming the centrepiece of the teapot. Its curled posture and raised sculptural form create considerably more depth than a conventional lid knob.

Hand Carved Calligraphy
One side of the body features carved calligraphy, adding a refined scholarly character to the otherwise sculptural composition.

Mountain Landscape
The opposite side carries a carved mountain landscape, creating a visual dialogue between the two sides of the vessel.

Low Rounded Silhouette
The body is broad, flattened and generously rounded, resting on a low foot. A closed ring handle and short spout maintain the balanced proportions of the design.

Diamond Pattern Strainer
A nine hole diamond pattern strainer is integrated into the teapot to provide a smooth and controlled pour while helping keep tea leaves inside the vessel.

Handcrafted Construction
The teapot is entirely handmade by skilled artisans. Variations in the clay, carved details and surface texture are natural characteristics of the process.

Authenticity and Presentation
An interior wall stamp accompanies the piece, and the teapot arrives in a gift box.

Everything you may want to knowProduct questions

A practical guide to materials, making, care, delivery and returns.

Choose a topic

What materials are used?

Materials vary by product and are listed on each product page.

Are the glazes food-safe?

Products intended for tea or food contact are selected for normal domestic use. Where a product is designed for drinking, brewing or serving tea, it is intended to be used for that purpose.

What materials are used?

Our pieces are handcrafted in stoneware and porcelain, sourced from regions in China renowned for centuries of ceramic tradition.

Jingdezhen, known as China's porcelain capital for over a thousand years, produces our fine porcelain pieces, prized for their smooth white body and ability to take detailed glazes. Yixing, famous for its zisha (purple clay) stoneware, produces our unglazed and reactive-glaze stoneware pieces, valued for their density and the way the clay develops character with use.

Each piece is fired and finished by hand, which is why glaze patterns, especially on reactive-glaze stoneware, vary slightly from piece to piece. Material and exact origin are noted on each individual product page.

Are your products lead-free?

For products intended for tea or food contact, we aim to source items suitable for normal domestic use. If a product has specific safety, material or testing information, we will include it on the product page. If you need confirmation for a specific item, contact us before ordering.

Can I use the product every day?

Yes, unless stated otherwise on the product page. Our tea ware is selected to balance design with practical everyday use. To preserve the finish, we recommend gentle handling and following the care instructions for each product.

Why do colours, glaze or texture vary slightly?

Many tea ware pieces are shaped, glazed, fired or finished in small batches. Heat, glaze, clay body and hand finishing can create subtle differences in colour, texture and surface. These variations are part of the character of crafted tea ware.

What materials are used?

Materials vary by product and are listed on each product page.

How are the pieces made?

The making process depends on the product. Pieces may be shaped, cast, glazed, fired, polished or finished by skilled workshops. This process gives each item its texture, weight, tone and character.

Why are there small variations between pieces?

Small variations are rare, but they can occasionally happen during shaping, glazing, firing or finishing. Slight differences in colour, surface, texture or form may occur from one piece to another and are part of the character of crafted tea ware.

Is it suitable as a gift?

Yes. Chadao pieces are selected to feel considered, calm and gift-ready, making them suitable for tea lovers, design-conscious homes and thoughtful everyday rituals.

Can I send it directly to someone?
