Haitang Xishi Form
Inspired by the shape of a begonia flower, the Haitang Xishi has a rounded, full body that tapers naturally toward the top. Its proportions create a soft and harmonious silhouette while allowing the ribbed construction to remain the central design element.
Precision Ribbed Construction
The body belongs to the traditional jinwen ribbed technique. Each raised section must remain evenly spaced and clearly defined around the entire vessel, making consistency particularly demanding. The controlled rhythm gives the surface a subtle sculptural quality.
Original Ore Tianqing Clay
The teapot is crafted from original ore Tianqing Ni, a distinctive zisha clay known for its deep slate blue grey tone. Its unusual colour creates a quieter alternative to the more familiar brown and red tones associated with purple clay teaware.
Handcrafted by Skilled Zisha Artisans
The piece is entirely handmade using traditional techniques. Shaping, rib formation and finishing are performed individually, meaning subtle variations in texture and form are natural characteristics of the craftsmanship.
Balanced Pouring Form
The spout and handle extend naturally from the rounded body, maintaining visual balance while providing a comfortable and controlled pouring experience.
Natural Patina Development
The unglazed clay gradually changes with use. Over time, the surface develops a warmer, smoother appearance as its natural patina builds through repeated brewing.
Gift Presentation
The teapot arrives in a gift box, making it suitable for both personal collections and considered gifting.
